Description
Scamp
Designed by Colin Edmondson – the Scamp is a small 7¼” gauge sit on locomotive, ideal for all miniature railway use. Powered by a petrol engine and two 800 watt electric motors. The 1st of the motors is driven by the engine and acts as a dynamo, this generated power is used to drive the second motor via a reversing switch and electronic speed controller. Braking is by hand operated ratchet lever, applying braking force to all four wheels.
Scamp also has the option to be fully electric by removing the engine and generator unit and dropping in the optional battery box, this change over takes no more than five minutes and makes the loco ideal for indoor or quiet miniature railway use.
For easy transport the loco breaks down into sub assemblies. Undo one screw and the bonnet is released, slacken two bolts, undo a cable and a connector and the complete engine and generator sub-assembly lifts out. The seat is held by two screws, then what is left is easy to lift into the back of a car.
Scamp is a versatile locomotive and many can be seen up and down the country working both passenger and works trains.
